Catch the Catamounts...
It's about time we do a UVM sports update here at the Admissions Blog. Our men's soccer team just wrapped up what was a historic season. They won the America East Conference and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Soccer Cup before losing to the #3 ranked team in the country - UConn. With the fall season over, the catamount faithful have turned their attention to hockey and basketball.
Our men's hockey team is a perennial powerhouse and is usually national ranked. Infact, many players go on to play in the NHL including All-stars John LeClair and Martin St. Louis. And you may remember our basketball team from a few years back, when we upset Syracuse in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Both teams have strong non-conference schedules. This allows fans, outside of New England, to catch the Cats play some of the top teams in the country. Here are links to the schedules of the Men's Hockey Team, Women's Hockey Team, Men's Basketball, and Women's Basketball teams. Last week our men's basketball team traveled down to Tampa, FL to take on the two-time defending national champs - The University of Florida Gators. My colleague, Moses, snapped these two pics during his trip down to the game - one of a billboard outside the stadium, and the other of the scoreboard at the end of the game. Despite the loss, the Catamounts look to have a strong season and will compete for another conference title. Go Cats Go!
